The best part about this product is the alert system. You're able to make sure every patient's needs are always alerted.

I cannot send prescriptions via PrognoCIS, and that ends up being very time consuming when the flow of patients is heavy.

Recommendations

I like the general flow of the face sheet. It has all the pertinent information right there if front of you.

The IT department is in India and the West Coast. So you are dealing with your problems in time zones that are not convenient. Secondly, the IT people are not medically oriented. They may know code, but the templates are ridiculous and the syntax of the finished encounter is horrid.

Recommendations

Ask where the IT is headquartered and whether the principles are some techies that wants to capitalize on our need for EMR, but have no clue about the "Art and science" interface.

I like the way PrognoCIS calculates the EM code.

I don't like the timeframe it takes when you chat or send in a request to have something fixed. The wait time is too long.

Recommendations

Check the hold time when you have an issue and how many clicks the Doc has to complete a note.

I would recommend understanding exactly what you need during each of the implementation phases. Having a good implementation team (on both sides –practice and software) that understands your specialty can make a big difference for a smooth transition.

Attorneys were listed as a contact rather than the guarantor or insurance company. They stated they were iPad-ready and iPad-friendly.

The overall functionality did not make sense. The EHR did not seamlessly interact with the PM. Duplicate entry of pertinent data was necessary. The field labels were not named correctly or absolutely did not make sense. It was apparent the product was not built by user or provider input.

Recommendations

It seems like the product was built by engineers with no medical background or working knowledge. There's incorrect terminology and incorrect labeling. The workflow was all over the place. Ask for a trial before you commit.

It's a very thorough EMR system.

It's not 100% compatible with surface tablets. There are difficulties with the size of the view on some pages. Also, I can't use the touch screen for every action. A lot of times I have to use the pen that comes with the surface touch. It's kind of irritating when you're working fast.

Recommendations

It's worth trying, especially if you have a desktop computer. Those seem to have no problems - or at least not as many. But it does the things we need it to do at our office.

There's nothing I really like best. It's been difficult.

Sure script is difficult, and the inability to identify patients by their birthdays when we have to search for a patient under CPOE for refill slows us down.

Recommendations

Don't use it if you write a lot of Rxs. You have to choose from a drop-down menu that was not made for gyno Rxs. It doesn't give all the choices we need, and we can't write the info ourself.
