PrognoCIS is a cloud-based ICD-10 compliant and MU certified EMR solution which helps medical facilities and practitioners to manage patient medical recording. The software comprises of integrated modules for EHR, Practice Management, Patient Portal and Revenue Cycle Management.

PrognoCIS EHR offers customizable EHR workflow and content for clinics and hospitals. Doctors and hospital staff can quickly generate an electronic prescription for their patients and share with them and their pharmacy store. Th inbuilt e-signature feature allows both medical professionals and patients to electronically sign medical bills and other documents within EMR or patient portal. A dedicated patient portal allows doctors to communicate with their patients securely, share lab results, set appointments and more.

PrognoCIS helps to quickly identify and confirm patient insurance benefit eligibility. clicnics can also reconcile patient accounting and insurance billing. Using PrognoCIS, medical practitioners can document patient data through multiple data entry methods. PrognoCIS works with a variety of devices, including laptops, desktops, tablets and smartphones using any standard web-browser. Doctors can also access patients' record on their iPhones via PrognoCIS iOS app.

Prognocis covers all of the basics that you need in an EMR. The lower cost was important in our practice as we had limited funds and wanted a system that could sustain itself. The software continues to evolve which is great news for an ever changing environment. The face page is well later out to give you a snap shot if the patient's medical problems, history and medications. As with any EMR, this is only as good as the information you initially load from a patient so work on the front end makes the record much better!

We have been using PrognoCIS for almost 10 years now. While many of our colleagues discuss changing from one product to another, we are not. The customer support and tech support team have been beefed up and now if I call, I expect to get right through. Happy to report. Years ago, maybe not. But now, absolutely. I would be pleased to recommend.

As the practice manager, it was my job to vet and recommend the new practice management software for our clinic. The demonstration was great and after using the software for a few months it is saving us time in some places. However, after a few months of using it we are looking for a better solution. That should tell you all you need to know. Here are some specifics from a managers perspective.

Scheduling is easy if you are on the right screen. From the calendar view, simply click the available space and type in the patient name. However, if you want to see the patient chart before scheduling a patient, it is not possible to see the calendar. Your options are "next available" or pick a date. If a patient says she would like to come in next Thursday at 3:00, you don't know if that slot is available on or around that time. You have to exit the patient chart, remember who the patient is, go to the calendar, choose the day and time, then type in the patient's name.

Uploading documents are tricky. If you want to upload a lab result, you go to the attachment tab. The patient name field is pre-populated with the previous patient. So be sure to delete that name or you will be uploading a document to the wrong chart. There are a few extra steps here as well but the one that drives me crazy is that I don't see a preview or anything. I just get a message saying the document was uploaded. If I want to verify that the right document went to the right place, I have to click on the chart tab, remember the patient's name since it defaults to the last patient opened on that tab, then go to the document list, click lab results and see if it is correct.

Medication list is interesting as well. I can see all the meds prescribed by clicking on the Current Meds tab, but I can't see history or any details. For that, I have to go to the encounter. But in our clinic, sometimes there are a bunch of encounters so it can get tedious. Then if I want to verify that the prescription was sent to the pharmacy I have to choose the correct encounter. If the medication was prescribed and not sent (another issue), I have to reopen the encounter, update, save, click the eRx button, then re-close the encounter. The doctors frequently forget to send the eRx because there are few extra steps than one would think need to be done. If it is not updated and saved, the eRx button doesn't work.

Doctors in our group dread making referrals to specialists because the referral process is so weird. We had to manually key in all the doctors to whom we refer, including specialty, address, phone, fax, etc. And if that doctor practices in two locations we had to enter them twice. If the doctor is not on the list then the provider has to enter the information before printing the referral.

Some other things. In some places, you have to search for a patient using the first name, then last name. Other places it is last name then first name. Some places require a dash between the digits of the birth date, other places the dash will mess everything up.

There are some very good things that we like a lot, but they don't outweigh the cumbersome nature of the program. Prescriptions from last visit can be carried forward and re-prescribed. For our diabetic or other patients on maintenance meds, it is easy to copy last visit, or make minor adjustments. Once the patient has been seen, the next visit is easy. However, there are times when the doctor will stop in my office and tell me something else he has encountered with the software and we wonder why this is still an issue with PrognoCIS after 14 years in business. The people are nice but the product needs vast improvement before I can recommend it.

The price is good and some features are easy to use

Cons

This program seems to have been developed by someone who read about a doctor's office once but has yet to visit one.

Overall on EHR side product is acceptable, with a little bit more work by the Company it could be easily improved

Poor for reporting PQRS and MU. My main complaint is the poor aesthetics of the records it generates, this could easily be improved if the company made the effort. Also, the Customer support mostly comes from India, there are time zone issues but more importantly language barriers that are significant. I do not feel their support people "think like doctors" therefore with the language it is hard to get them to understand the problems. I have reached out to their Manager of Customer support with little interest in addressing issues. When I bought the product I have assured all of the customer support was in the US, this is blatantly not true.

The Bizmatic's development team has been instrumental in assisting us to customize a solution to automate our current operations.

This customization includes automation of test results from medical equipment used in our Medical Clinic, the design of a Drug & Alcohol Randomization Tool for the Work Place Drug & Alcohol Program, a design of an Employee Assistance Program module and design of a specialized Workers' Compensation module to track and report payments.

The software is extremely intuitive, easy to use and easily customizable by the end-user.

Feedback is sometimes delayed as many developers are in India.

Advice to Others

This product is a valuable product if you are interested in improving your current operations.
Automation is quick and offers time and money savings for your practice.
I audited other EMRs who were not flexible and whose initial and support costs were 2 and 3 times the price.

Once you get your feet wet and start using the program it is fairly easy to navigate without any help but there are certain aspects of the software that I needed explained to me.

Features all of the features required by us so I don't have any complaints there and functionality is similar to ease of use in my opinion.

Customer support is kind of annoying but that is true with any support for a larger company

When I had the demo, the software seemed pretty comprehensive.

Pros

It met all the standards of what I think I need to work efficiently. It can work on all the electronic devices, the training team is friendly and available.

Cons

The user interface could look a little more updated. The icons are very small and like an old Nintendo game character. The training and set up process is very long, expect 6-8 weeks to be safe and is the main reason I gave the ease of use rating 3 stars.

Advice to Others

Have an idea of how you want to flow IT wise and in patient contact prior to training, it can help with the set-up. Spend time developing your EHR to what you need. Shop around and get as many demos from different companies as possible to make the best decision. Realize they are in the business of sales so everything will sound great. Ask to gain control in the web demo to see if you can at least navigate the basics.

Been using it for most than two years. My major issue has been with appropriate training, support at the site, poor remote support (not located in US) and delayed responses. If you have to connect ancillary equipment, such as printers, ID scanners, etc the software has very limited options. It only work with windows explorer and even though it crashes several times a day.

Once you know it is not difficult to use but in order to get to that level at least we had to go over many trials and errors since the support once installed was almost inexistent and the tutorials were not of help.

Pros

With the proper support and training it could be a very helpful tool. Is not difficult to use.

Cons

Poor and deficient Customer Service.
Almost non existent support in site, mostly remote. The customer service appears to be located outside the US and there are many communication issues. The response can be delayed. Looks like they have no commitment once they sell you the product. In one occasion I asked them to configure something for our practice and their response was that was too complicated and not economically viable for them.
The software is as good as the configuration. A poor configuration will result in a less easy to use program.

Expect a delay for the patient to see the doctor.

In our case we have hired an IT personnel to help deals with the issues since once you start EHR it does not make sense to go back.

Where we are located the resources apparently are limited and there is a high turnover issue with the technicians that have been assigned. Currently there is no Tech that supports our area. In case of an issue you need to generate a ticket and wait that hopefully they will reply.

Advice to Others

If you want a good software this is one that is good.

However, that is not what should you think at the long term. You need a good EHR with a company committed to support it. This is not the case. It might not have as good qualities as this one but you can manage if they brings you a timely supporting team and good training resources. I will go with an EHR that can be accessed remotely with other applications besides Explorer and that will
Not have as much limitations in terms of the equipment that you can use.

Remember that your practice will be directly impacted with the EHR implementation.

Not much to complain about, I am using the billing service from Bizmatics but my practice is brand new and I just recently started submitting claims so I cannot state how that side of the business runs.

Recommendations

Make sure you evaluate whether the templates can be customized easily, this saves you money and time by not having to pay IT to do this.

Like every other solution, it is frustrating when you need to get a task completed but cannot because you are missing that one specifific and important step. However, in our experience our implementation managers EHR/EMR were always ready to help and support us.

Recommendations

Please look for a software that fits the needs of your organization. Preview it and see how you can make it your own. We have been able to work with it for both of our specialties: Internal Medicine and Podiatry.
