MDOffice is a cloud-based medical solution that helps healthcare organizations to manage clinical and administrative functions of eye care practice. The medical suite contains electronic health record (EHR) and practice management (PM) applications. It caters to specialities including gastroenterology, OB/GYN, ophthalmology, optometry, orthopedics and podiatry.

MDOffice EHR includes SOAP notes and customizable templates using MDOffice Designer. The Designer lets users change the templates and language used to input patient history/assessments in order to suit a particular specialty.

Users can also attach documents, such as X-rays, lab results and images, to a patient’s file. Images can be edited within the document manager and resized, annotated and cropped. Reporting functions are also included, which allow users to view and analyze multiple aspects of practice functioning.

MDOffice PM helps users in managing office operations like booking appointments, handling claims, processing reimbursements and more.

Support is offered via phone, email and through online resources.

MDOffice is clunky and glitchy. It slows down the entire office from checkin to technician to MD to checkout

Buyer beware. The excellent reviews are absolutely false.

Pros

Decent interface if it doesn't freeze up. It does make a pretty looking pdf note without too much garbage when it's all said and done.

Cons

Speed or lack thereof. The speed, even after thorough troubleshooting, is a 100% deal breaker. Typical load times are 20 seconds or longer. Autosave is unreliable, which means I find myself doing duplicate work. Multitasking is impossible without having multiple instances of the EMR open. For instance, checking a tickler (e.g. instant message) automatically pulls you out of the patient and forces you into another patient. You then have to go through the lag time of loading all over again.

The system is easy to use and train on. The one thing I would have to say is the customer support is top notch. When we have problems we know that we can email the problem and within typically a few minutes someone is going to be answering us.

The only thing I would say is when there is upgrades sometimes it doesn't go as smoothly as we would like it. But all systems have bugs and kinks that come up. This is just a minor problem that we know may happen

Recommendations

I would say is to talk to other offices that use MDOffice. Also my suggestion is to go and visit an office that has them and see who it works for them. See the flow of the system.

Excellent core program that is customizable and customization remains with future updates. Support staff very responsive. Both phone and email support and direct connectivity available.

Further explanation and examples of recent enhancements would be appreciated. Hard to find fault with a company with such a wonderful track record and superb support. They stay current with CMS requirements.

Recommendations

do tutorial online to see all the features and talk with current owners. Be certain it will do what you want and need, and how easily.

MD Office has been an amazing addition to ophthalmology. After much hesitation, we decided to join the world of electronic medical records and MD Office was our savior. The software, training and support staff are far superior than any company we interviewed. I recommend their product to any one who is considering EHR. From day 1 to year 4.... We are beyond impressed.

Pros

I like the team and their responsiveness, I like that reports can be emailed vs. uploaded if needed.

Cons

Getting set up is difficult, my night team uses it the most, and it is tough to get them in during the day to do so.
