athenaCollector Practice Management Software

athenaCollector is a unique combination of software and services designed to make medical practices more efficient and more profitable. To start, athenaCollector is an entirely Cloud-based offering, meaning that the software is used through a web browser, while athenahealth hosts and maintains all software and data in their professional data center. This is an increasingly popular model for software deployment because it allows practices to offload IT management challenges.

However, where athenahealth has really pioneered is how the combine this Cloud-based offering with back-office services. athenahealth maintains a massive databased of payer rules, government incentives, and pay-for-performance programs. These rules and requirements are then integrated with the athenaCollector system so that practices using the system can submit accurate claims and reports that will get them paid more, faster, while qualifying for additional incentives.

In addition to the athenaCollector software and rules database, athenahealth also employs a large force of back-office specialists who assist practices with the less attractive side of heath care - paperwork, compliance, and collections. These specialists will check eligibility, follow up on claims submissions, and track down denials.

Finally, the athenaCollector service is priced on an ongoing percentage of collections, which created a shared-risk model such that athenahealth has incentive to improve collections for each practice.

athenahealth also offers athenaClinicals, a complete, ONC-ATBC Certified electronic health record (EHR) that is seamlessly integrated with athenaCollector. These complementary systems can be deployed on a standalone basis or as an integrated suite.
