One con would be the lack of customization..We wish we had the ability to customize some of the tiles and change things to our needs.

The layout is engaging and user-friendly. It has a nice, modern and friendly feel to it. Filling in long forms can be a pain though because every time you click on a section it unlocks it for editing (even when you didn't mean to) and then you have to wait for it to save and re-lock that section when you move to another part of the screen.

Cons

Sometimes when a task is assigned, it is not always clear what is required to complete the task or what comes next after the task is completed. Also on some forms you don't realize until you click Submit that there were mandatory fields which needed to be filled in.

Incredible program, great for a large company that has employees in multiple provinces and countries. Customer service and project management is top notch. Reporting is simple yet vast!

Cons

If you have a small to mid-sized company, all that Workday has to offer is way too much. Will slow you down and make things difficult.

There is no perfect enterprise HR solution out that that I have found, but Workday is among a few that really can do it all for medium and larger organizations. Just be prepared for some headache and learning curve in the beginning phases.

Pros

The templates for task completion can be very useful. Once I had the dashboard fully configured, it was much easier to navigate and had a nice look and feel to the UI. It seems organized and works best when you have an organization with a dedicated HRIS person or team. It is fully end-to-end and has lots of features.

Cons

It can feel a bit overwhelming at times, especially in the beginning. It feels like there are many unnecessary "clicks," and it seems like it takes you in circles. The implementation was very rough, because there were so many questions and confusion all around. We could have done a better job with change management.

As an employee, I use Workday mostly to manage my goals and benefits elections. Workday makes these processes pretty simple for the most part and certainly streamlines them, giving me inbox reminders, etc.

Cons

While Workday does streamline certain activities, the software itself can be quite cumbersome. Sometimes the options are unintuitive, and the site can be difficult to navigate. That said, I haven't worked with competitor software, so I'm not certain how it stacks up next to those.

I have only been using Workday for a few months. After taking all of the integration courses and starting to build integrations I am reasonably comfortable with the back end but no front end knowledge which is required to test at least the inbound integrations. Be prepared to spend days researching certain topics before coming up with answers. I recommend hiring a consultant to help in house developers learn the tools and functionality if you decide to go with Workday.

Pros

-Basic functionality for end users is intuitive and easy to use.
-Lots of options for integration with third parties
-Easy to use, custom, report capability with the option to expose reports as services (RaaS).
-Fairly easy to learn and use add-in for Eclipse for complicated integrations (Workday Studio).

Cons

-Training is expensive and is basically required to do an implementation due to lack of available reference material. Recording the online training for future reference is not permitted
-The workday community site is cumbersome (searches are not ranked according to relevancy and it can take many hours to find what you are looking for). Some workday studio components don't seem to be documented at all on the site.
-Certain functionality and community information is only provided to "Workday Implementation partners" which makes it nearly impossible to implement in-house without paying to outsource some of the work to a workday partner.
-Workday doesn't seem to have been built with performance in mind. Even with server side paging, reports and integrations are very slow.
-Lots of "hidden features." This would normally be a bonus but more advanced tasks require the user to know exactly what to search for from the application's search feature. Most of the functionality of workday is hidden in search results and isn't intuitively exposed in the UI.

I love workday compared to other employee portals i have used in the past.

Pros

I like how organized everything is and the ease of use. When you need to find something in particular, it is so easy to find and all the employees have easy access to all their information.

Cons

Sometimes information imputes into the system can take a little long to sync and to view documents you also have to wait a little long sometimes while the request is being made and the documents appear in your inbox.

Pros

Since implementing Workday, I have loved that I can see my vacation and sick time available, review policies, make changes to my tax exemptions, etc. all in one place at any time. It is easy and intuitive and I find that I refer to it all the time. I am not an administrator so I can't speak to the cost or ease to maintain, but from a user perspective, it has been wonderful.

Cons

The only annoyance is that it seems to timeout very quickly. I know that is a security feature to prevent unauthorized access if I forget to log off so I shouldn't really complain. It may be a configurable setting, but I would like a little more time to refer to a calendar or other information before the session terminates.

It does a great job at consolidating payslips and allowing easy access to payroll information from multiple years and paydays. It's web based and the user interface is adaptive; so it works well on mobile devices too, easy to access and can be integrated with the enteprise single sign on (SSO) infrastructure.

Cons

When a user wants to print a payslip this is automatically generated by a background process and it is not displayed immediately. Instead, the user is told that a notification will be received within their Workday UI when the file is ready for printing/download in PDF. Now the problem is that this file is dynamically generated with the same name, every time. So if you need to download all your payslips from a certain year, you'll find that you have to rename 26 different files to be able to find the right one you need later.

I think the most I like about the software is its ability to handle big chunks of data and organizing it in such a way that it is not cluttered and easy to find and use later. It helps manage all the different info and uses for an employee.

Pros

Benefits, payroll, and time tracking all in one place. Both as an employee and as a people manager, this tool makes my life very easy for the administration task work that comes with being both.

Cons

Time off tracking for employees would be more helpful if there was integrations with group calendars or options to show time-off for an entire team and make it easy for everyone within a team/organization to see planned time off for subordinates.

Easiest HCM platform to use. Allows your employees to see their information and edit it when needed.

Pros

The software is very easy to use, it keeps everything from Pay, PTO, vacation, and benefits in one. The icons are easy and anyone can figure out how to use it.

Cons

Occasionally information in Workday would not be updated or would be delayed. The platform does not engage its users.
