I've used Successfactors and Cornerstone. I did have many issues with Successfactors not registering completion. I haven't experienced that at all with Cornerstone. I completely trust the results. I think a few things need to be better. If I make learning Inactive, I want it removed from the Learners Transcript. I never want the individual material Items to be left when I make a curriculum Inactive. The thing that I really have an issue is removing learning from individuals. There is no bulk functionality. I have to click approximately 3 times for each item I want to remove and I have to do that for each person.

Reporting is not ideal. I want a simple report to show what curriculum is our user's transcript as incomplete. The report shows the curriculum for each item not completed. I just need the overall status and I'm unable to use the report because there are more than 5000 lines because of this repeating of the curriculum over an over.

Proxy enrollment is standard but we are able to select enrollment based on specified criteria.
Versioning is limited- access to previous content is not able to be viewed once versioning has occurred. We are only able to see the content that has been updated; therefore, if legal reasons warrant us to pull training documentation we may be limited to the content that was presented for that individual.
Before purchasing you need to make sure needs are clearly defined and addressed. Confirm pricing and if it includes a one time startup cost and if you contract includes technical support- if so is it included in your contract pricing.

It's one of the least expensive packages out there.
It's fine until you want to CHANGE ANYTHING, then good luck to you. Despite my college degree, I had no idea what the support guy was trying to tell me. It could be because you have to download a massive excel spreadsheet and work that sheet like crazy, even for a small edit. If I can see competencies and goals online, why is it so hard to simple add or delete them online? Or better still, why can't I tell customer support what I want and have them go in and make the change in two seconds? No, it's a 4 hour process: download, edit (if you're able to sort through the massive number of tabs), upload, review etc., creates too much room for error and way too many steps in this day and age. I don't recommend this product. Support tries to help, but they don't know how to SIMPLIFY for the basic end user.
Ask how editing/ making changes works. Ask if you can cancel anytime or get a refund if not happy.

Cornerstone Performance is a module that can stand alone or integrate into their other products. This particular module works really well for organizational development and alignment. As in most organizations, getting end users to USE the technology is huge and Cornerstone has done a good job with their user interface. You have your competencies and your goals and a place to keep a development plan. 360s can be done easily. Finally, it has fantastic analytics. Once you start using the product for a couple of years, you can really analyze performance throughout the entire organization with solid data - which is usually lacking in performance appraisals. Overall, a useful tool for a learning organization.
Currently the platform is based on Flash technology which means the product is unusable on iPads. Further the User Experience is a little dated. Making changes in somewhat tedious as an administrator must e-mail changes to a specialist at Cornerstone via an excel spreadsheet (but they do have good customer service). Finally the competency library that comes with the product was developed by a company in New Zealand, so some of the competencies are not only outdated, but worded for folks who work in NZ.
I did my homework before selecting and demoed NUMEROUS vendors. I found Cornerstone was the easiest for end users to understand and integrate into their work life. It does well on the performance management side. If you are looking for more of the goal setting side, I would go with other products. But Cornerstone does strike a good balance between competencies and goals.

Manager's comments box does not identify who the manager was who completed the review like the 360 comments box contains the reviewers email address.
No check box to confirm the meeting has been completed. A number of performance reviews were displaying self assessor and manager assessments 100% complete, however the manager hadn't actually sat down with the employee and held the meeting with them.
Senior management are very frustrated that they can't see the content of the performance reviews for the subordinates under their direct reports. e.g. Store Supervisor can see their direct reports who are Store Managers, but they want to be able to see the performance review content for Department Managers underneath the Store Manager.
Store Managers want to be able to see their whole store team on the Analysis tab rather than only employees with the same role type.
It is really simple to use which is fantastic for the retail industry where employees are not always highly educated or have highly competent computer skills to use complex systems

It is user-friendly and easy to use for our employees. It works well for a smaller company (we have about 50 users currently) and seems to meet our performance management needs so far.
Customer service can sometimes be tough to go through if you are in the U.S., as they are located in Australia. I do wish there were more prompts and directions for employees on how exactly to set up goals, ratings, and development plans. We had to develop our own training presentation to along with the system which works fine, but it would be better if that information could be reinforced while the employees go in to the system to enter their information.
It depends on the size of your company and the familiarity your employees have with performance reviews. The system is easy to use, but if employees are not familiar with how to set up performance reviews, they may need additional guidance.

The product allows us to keep track of goals and reviews without all the paper. The 360 tool is great. The customer support team can be helpful.
There are frequent issues with end users losing their data even after saving. A browser issues perhaps? Sometimes it's hard to connect with the support team.
I know that it's not as easy breezy as you might think from the sales team's presentation.

The platform is mature and has all of the functionality that employers need to evaluate and develop staff. It's the most sophisticated product in its space. Other products that we have looked at as an alternative could not deliver the same functionality.
Customer support is very weak. We were unable to access the platform reliably. CSB did not appear to have the resources or will to correct the problem. In some cases, it would take multiple tries over a 1-2 hour period to access the system. It was never solved before our subscription expired.
Before May 2014, calls to the US help desk were answered with the response "no one is available to take your call, please call again or log a case". I complained to the point that they implemented a voicemail system.
Documentation on how to use the product is very weak. It requires a team of people who can dedicate substantial time learning how to use the product and developing internal documentation. It requires a dedicated help desk.
Implementation was slapdash. The trial period data was not purged from the system, and there was no evidence that the team that configured the system performed quality control on their work.
Have a dedicated team who will use the product extensively in the trial phase so that product documentation is well-established before contracting for a subscription. The support may be much higher during the testing phase because the company is sales-driven. They have every incentive to respond before the contract is written.

Cornerstone CSB has been a paramount part of the overhaul we are doing of our HR process. We purchased the platform 8 months ago, and have done a review cycle already with great success. The best thing I can say about Cornerstone CSB is the quality of the support service. They have been available to answer questions and help me configure and customize the system to my needs. I am an HR director, but the CEO and executive team in general were aware that reviews needed to be made functional in order to help increase revenue and hold on to good employees.
